Dreary Place

Driving through this dreary place

I used to be a child here

Now all I do is I drive through this place

Once all I knew

Must be something good here too

Where people are there is always some of everything

And I can’t say what was is still

I don’t mean to think ill of you Dreary Place

But I do, I do, I do

I don’t mean to think ill of you Dreary Place

But I do

Seeing you

from inside here

I no longer tremble

But should I dare step off the train

I’d disappear in your non-terrain

Now I agree this isn’t sane

Where people are help can only be a cry away

But I know still can isn’t will

I don’t mean to think ill of you Dreary Place

But I do, I do, I do

I don’t mean to think ill of you Dreary Place

But I do

Seeing us together here

At window's length

We're almost near

But we’re so different

So different

Your beauty is so enviably plain

Mine is so much harder to explain

And I can’t say what was is still

No I can’t say what was is still

But I know still can isn’t will

I know still can isn’t will

So I just do what I must do

And I drive right through you

I don’t mean to think ill of you Dreary Place

But I do, I do, I do

I don’t mean to think ill of you Dreary Place

But I do, I do, I do

I don’t mean to think ill of you Dreary Place

But I do
